How do I find my phone by clapping?
Install ClapWhistle on your Android phone, allow microphone access and turn the finder on. Put it down nearby, then use your chosen number of claps. Two is the default. Your phone responds with your chosen alert. See the clap setup guide.
Does it work when my screen is locked?
It can keep listening after you lock the screen, as long as you turn it on first and Android keeps the microphone service running. Calls, battery settings or another app using the mic can interrupt it. Get help with background listening.
Will it ring if my phone is on silent?
The finder’s sound alert uses your phone’s alarm volume. Silent ringtone mode, Do Not Disturb and connected Bluetooth devices can affect what you hear in different ways. Try your alert first, and turn on vibration or flash as another way to spot it.
Does ClapWhistle record my conversations?
No. Microphone audio is checked on your phone to recognise your signal. It is not saved or uploaded. The app contains ads and uses crash reporting; our privacy policy explains those separately.
Is it free? Does it need internet?
ClapWhistle is free to download and contains ads. Clap and whistle detection work on your phone without an internet connection. Downloads, ads and some support features use internet access.
Can it find a phone that’s already lost?
Only if the finder was turned on beforehand and the phone is close enough to hear you. It cannot locate a switched-off phone or track a phone on a map. If yours is missing right now, start with this lost-phone guide.
